Mona Vie and the Preservation of the Brazilian Rainforest
Mona Vie is a product with a purpose, and that purpose extends far beyond the wellness of its consumers. MonaVie's roots live deep within the lungs of the earth, known as the Amazon. This region is home to one-third of the world's species of animal and plant life. The health and well-being of the Brazilian Rainforest directly impacts the entire Amazon region, as well as the quality and power of Mona Vie.
The acai berry is found at the top of tall palm trees in the rich Amazon rain forest of South America. Used for hundreds of years by natives of the rain forest for its energy, health, and healing properties, the acai berry contains high levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients.
Through both the conservative harvesting process which support and promotes the growth of the rainforest, and the M.O.R.E. Project, the makes of Mona Vie are giving back to this region which has given so much to all of us. For ages, the acai has been revered by the indigenous cultures of the Amazon for its unique nutritional and healing properties.
Today however, poachers illegally chop down between 5,000 and 10,000 acai palm trees each week simply to harvest a 12 inch section of the tree known as the heart of the palm (or pamito). Once these trees are destroyed, they never return. By MonaVie helping to create a demand for the acai berry, locals now have an economic incentive to harvest only the berries and not the heart of the palm, Thereby, providing a continual source of income for the locals as well as positively impacting the environment through the preservation of the trees.
MonaVie is also giving back to the people of this region through a charitable initiative. Every time you purchase Mona Vie, a portion of the proceeds will go to the M.O.R.E. Project, which stands for MonaVie's Operation Rescue. These charitable gifts help provide food, shelter, clothing and education to the needy children of Brazil, often left orphaned in the slums of Rio de janeiro. The M.O.R.E. Project not only stands for MonaVie's Operation Rescue, to these children, it also represents More Hope, More Caring, More Compassion, More Kindness and More Love. Just as the mighty Amazon has done for ages, MonaVie is enriching the lands and people of this region of the world.
The palm trees which were once harvested to create hearts of palm salad in upscale restaurants are now being left alone to grow as a renewable resource because there is now a market for the berry, which is harvested without destroying the tree.
The Acai Berry is one of the few Brazilian exports that can directly protect the rainforest. Every time a bottle of Mona Vie is purchased, it stands as proof that the Acai Berry is an important and valid export. It becomes evident that the rainforest is indeed worth preserving at all costs. A portion of the profits from every bottle of Mona Vie sold will be donated to the preservation of the Brazilian Rainforest.
