Character.

Nothing is more important than your Character. What I am writing below , I have written before in a blog as well as in one of my books. The English language contradicts itself often  such as  “Character is really important” … What are we talking about here ? Is Character a person ?    …. or…  He was quite a character…. which is really saying he was a bit of a hard case thing full of mischief etc.

But despite all the confusion please know this Character  is really really important. Maybe it would be easier to replace the word character with the word credibility. If you lose your credibility…your character ….. you lose everything.

It is a bit like having a sign on the front of your body that says this person can not be trusted. Have no dealings with this person. Stay well clear.

Even if you are rich and famous and the world deems you ” successful” you cannot afford to lose your character.

Ask a certain Golfer, who has had his character brought into disrepute. Even though it is wrong for any one to judge him ( Only God can do that) there will be many that will remember him NOT  for his golfing brilliance but rather his human frailty and indiscretions.

Those who continue to live doing the right things NEVER  need not have to continue looking over their right  ( or left) shoulder to watch out to see if any one is following them or watching them!

So my advise in all dealings whether it is relational , financial or family matters that you are dealing with , always guard your character.

Because it wont be the things you did in your life ( wealth , success, power , assets etc ) that people will remember, but rather the character and the way you conducted yourself and helped others that will be.

I will always remember my wonderful Form 1 and Form 2 schoolteacher Miss Teresa Oates who despite her minisual salary would take the entire class ( or around 35 ) to the local park and buy ice creams and lollies for each of us  .

That was almost half a century ago and it is still so very fresh in my mind. Why? Because to me it was an extreme act of kindness and one I will never forget. She did have to but she did !!

The percentage of people who are remembered further back than one generation is tiny, so it is important to be remembered by this generation for all the right reasons.

I will write again soon.
